The test rig was made so I could go back to first principles and investigate various magnetic effects, with the view to making a PMA for a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT).

There are two rotors that can take 16 Neo magnets each. The magnets are only push fit so can be orientated in any sequence. Multiple coils can be mounted both above and below the rotors. The air gaps and coil positions can be easily changed. The rig's shaft speed can also be changed.

A number of steel plates and spacers can also be fitted to the rotors to investigate output.

The data was collected using a data logger and AVO.
